2022 FCA/AutoZone Liberty Bowl Breakfast To Feature Former Notre Dame Star Rocket Ismail
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), together with the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, are pleased to announce that former Notre Dame All-American Raghib "Rocket" Ismail will be the featured speaker at this year’s FCA / AutoZone Liberty Bowl Breakfast. The 2022 breakfast benefiting FCA will be held at the Hilton Memphis Hotel on Tuesday, December 27 at 7:15 am.
Ismail was an All-American wide receiver and kick returner for the Fighting Irish. He helped lead Notre Dame to the 1988 National Championship. In 1990, he was named the Walter Camp Player of the Year, The Sporting News College Player of the Year and he was runner-up for the Heisman Trophy.
After his career at Notre Dame, Rocket played two seasons in the CFL with Toronto. In 1991, Toronto won the CFL Championship and Rocket was named MVP of the Grey Cup. In 1993 he moved to the NFL, where he played 10 seasons with the Raiders, Panthers and Cowboys.
In 2004, Rocket was named by College Football News as one of the Greatest College Football Players of All-Time and he was selected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2019.
In announcing this year’s guest speaker, Greater Memphis FCA Metro Director Jeremy Wilbur commented, “We are extremely excited to have one of college football’s all-time great players, Rocket Ismail, be the featured speaker for this year’s breakfast. Rocket’s personal story of converting to Christianity as a teenager and his many years of dedication to FCA’s mission and ministry is tremendous. His message will inspire everyone in attendance.”
