2020 FCA / AutoZone Liberty Bowl Breakfast
Featuring Former NFL Head Coach Les Steckel
Lee Steckel

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), together with the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, are pleased to announce that former NFL head coach and former FCA National President Les Steckel will be the featured speaker at this year’s FCA / AutoZone Liberty Bowl Breakfast. The 2020 breakfast benefiting FCA will be held at the Hilton Memphis Hotel on Wednesday, December 30 at 7:15 am.

Steckel coached in the NFL for 20 years, including the 1984 season as head coach of the Minnesota Vikings. During his long and distinguished career, Steckel had coaching assignments with the San Francisco 49ers, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Buffalo Bills. Steckel coached in two Super Bowls, 1986 with the Patriots and 2000 as offensive coordinator with the Titans.

Steckel got involved with FCA during his first coaching job at the University of Colorado in the early 1970’s after serving in Vietnam as a Marine artillery officer. Steckel continued to be active in FCA through the years, which led to a position on the FCA’s board of trustees. Following his coaching career, Steckel was named President of FCA in 2005. He retired from FCA after a 12-year tenure.

In announcing this year’s guest speaker, Memphis FCA Area Director Jeremy Wilbur commented, “We are extremely excited that Les Steckel will be the featured speaker for this year’s breakfast. Coach Steckel’s dedication to FCA’s mission and ministry is unmatched. His personal story will inspire everyone in attendance.”

Harold Graeter, Associate Executive Director of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, stated, “The AutoZone Liberty Bowl is proud of our longstanding association with the Greater Memphis Fellowship of Christian Athletes and we, too, are excited that Coach Steckel will be speaking at this year’s FCA/AutoZone Liberty Bowl Breakfast. Coach Steckel reflects the character, high principles and values on which the AutoZone Liberty Bowl was founded.”
