The Big Day For Teachers
The AutoZone Liberty Bowl and the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation kicked off Extra Yard for Teachers Week with The Big Day For Teachers and a special surprise presentation to Fairley High School teacher Tameka Boyce.
The Big Day For Teachers is a nationwide day of celebration and recognition of teachers. The AutoZone Liberty Bowl presented Boyce with a $1,000 DonorsChoose gift card to be used for classroom or student educational resources and projects that help keep kids learning.
Boyce is a native Memphian and graduate of Whitehaven High School. She has been a teacher for 18 years. This is her ninth-year teaching at Fairley High School, where she teaches English. Boyce is a two-time Teacher of the Year honoree.
“The Big Day For Teachers and Extra Yard for Teachers Week is all about supporting and celebrating teachers in our community,” said Steve Ehrhart, Executive Director of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. “We’re proud to partner with the College Football Playoff Foundation in recognizing Tameka Boyce for her many years as an educator, her service to Fairley High School and most importantly, for making a positive difference in the lives of her students. The DonorsChoose gift card will provide her with much needed resources so she can continue to have a positive impact on her students.”
Extra Yard for Teachers Week continues through September 20th, as college football goes the extra yard to honor and recognize great teachers.
The AutoZone Liberty Bowl is proud to support the College Football Playoff Foundation's Extra Yard For Teachers initiative. The College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation is the charitable arm of the College Football Playoff, supporting teachers and education across the country to improve U.S. student outcomes. The CFP Foundation's primary platform, Extra Yard for Teachers, elevates the teaching profession by inspiring and empowering teachers in four core areas: resources, recognition, professional development, recruitment and retention.
